SERDANG, 10 June – The University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia, organised the “Bengkel Pemantapan CPR Lanjutan Haiwan Kesayangan Siri 1/2026” on 5 June 2026 at Dewan Kuliah Veterinar B, FPV, UPM. The workshop was specifically conducted to enhance the preparedness of Veterinary Officers in managing cardiopulmonary emergencies through the application of Advanced Life Support (ALS) based on the RECOVER Guidelines 2024.

As one of the emergency situations requiring immediate and well-coordinated intervention, Cardiopulmonary Arrest (CPA) cases demand a high level of technical competency among veterinary practitioners. Therefore, the workshop emphasised strengthening participants’ understanding of advanced CPR protocols, including haemodynamic monitoring, the appropriate use of pharmacological therapies, and the systematic implementation of resuscitation procedures to improve patient recovery outcomes.

A total of 10 Veterinary Officers participated in the programme, which was conducted in small groups to facilitate more intensive and focused training. In addition to theoretical sessions, participants underwent simulation-based and practical training designed to replicate real-life emergency situations, providing them with the opportunity to apply the knowledge acquired in a controlled environment.

The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Tey Yu Chong, a Veterinary Officer at UVH. Through the knowledge-sharing sessions delivered, participants were exposed to the latest developments in veterinary CPR and the importance of adhering to standard protocols to ensure that emergency interventions are carried out consistently and effectively. “Successful resuscitation depends not only on individual skills but also on effective team coordination and continuous mastery of techniques through regular training,” he explained.

The organisation of this workshop reflects UVH’s commitment to strengthening a culture of continuous learning and clinical excellence among its workforces. Through training based on current best practices, participants are expected to enhance their confidence and competency in managing critical emergency cases, thereby contributing to the delivery of higher-quality and more impactful veterinary services.
