SERDANG, May 22 – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), through the Department of Clinical Veterinary Studies, in collaboration with SEED Contact Lens (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. successfully hosted the Round Table Discussion on Canine and Feline Ophthalmology Case Management at Bilik Tutorial 11, FPV.
The program served as a continuation of the veterinary ophthalmology seminar held a day earlier, with this session focusing on in-depth case discussions and the exchange of clinical experiences in managing ocular diseases in companion animals.
A total of 40 participants, comprising academic and non-academic staff, along with private veterinary practitioners, took part in the event.
To facilitate more meaningful engagement, the discussions were conducted in two smaller breakout sessions with the invited speaker.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ito Norihiko from Tottori University, Japan, shared his clinical expertise and conducted hands-on demonstrations on the application of bandage contact lenses (BCL) in post-surgical care and the management of complex ophthalmic cases.
Through interactive discussions and Q&A sessions, participants were introduced to innovative treatment approaches aimed at improving clinical outcomes and advancing the use of ophthalmic technologies in veterinary practice.
The program underscored the role of BCL as a key innovation in veterinary ophthalmology and reaffirmed FPV UPM’s dedication to equipping veterinary professionals with advanced competencies for delivering effective and modern animal healthcare.
