SERDANG, 11 February – The University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) received an official visit from the Department of Biomedical Imaging, Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (PPUM) to obtain reference and exposure on veterinary diagnostic imaging practices. The visit focused on workflow management, the use of imaging modalities, as well as compliance with safety and ethical standards in procedures involving animals.

The visit began with a two-way discussion session before the delegation was taken to selected facilities at FPV, including the Animal Anatomy Museum and the University Veterinary Hospital. The focus of the visit was the Diagnostic Imaging Unit at UVH, where the delegation observed the facilities, layout, and imaging workflow in practice.

During the session at the Diagnostic Imaging Unit, UVH shared best practices involving standard operating procedures, facility management, radiation safety, and ethical and systematic animal handling approaches. The sharing provided comprehensive insight into the implementation of veterinary diagnostic imaging within a university hospital setting.

FPV and UVH welcomed the visit as a platform for knowledge and experience exchange between the veterinary and medical fields. The initiative also opened opportunities for strategic collaboration in research, training, and joint expertise development.

Overall, the official visit is expected to support improvements in diagnostic imaging practices for both parties, while strengthening UVH’s role as a reference centre in veterinary diagnostic imaging.
