“Semarak Merdeka UPM 2024” Program: Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) received the Top 20 Best Responsibility Centre Award and Judges’ Special Award

Serdang, 22nd August – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) was among the best top 20  responsibility centre in the “Kibar Jalur Gemilang” competition, and also received the Judges’ Special Award in the ‘Best Commitment by the Management Committee’ category via the Independence Day Choir competition in conjunction with the “Semarak Merdeka UPM 2024” Program, organised by the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Arts And Cultural Centre, UPM.

The participation by the staff of FVM in the competitions were highly praised as it has indirectly showed the strong cooperation and commitment reflected among the staff, regardless of rank. The FVM management committee were also present to give their full support in the participation of the responsibility centre in all competitions.

The most memorable and proud moment for the faculty was when the top four management committee members: Prof. Dr. Goh Yong Meng (Dean) Prof. Dr. Jalila Abu (Deputy Dean of Academic and Student Affairs), Assoc Prof Dr. Intan Shameha Abdul Razak (Deputy Dean of Research and Postgraduate Studies), and Assoc Prof Dr. Noraniza Mohd Adzahan (Deputy Dean of University Veterinary Hospital) had joined together and accompanied the FVM choir, in which was given the name ‘Vet Virtuoso’ in the inter-responsibility centre Independence Day Choir competition, by waving the Malaysian Flag ‘Jalur Gemilang’ on stage.

Vet Virtuoso, composed of 18 of the faculty’s staff, is lead by Mr Muhammad Nur Iman Aminuddin, with the guidance of Dr. Azalea Hani Othman which was also the choir conductor. Mrs Salinah @ Lina Junid, FVM Deputy Registrar, and Mr Ahmad Azlan Ahmad Saad, UVH administrative officer were also commended for being among the choir members. Mrs Ainaa Liyana Abdul Rahman, represented the faculty in the “Sayembara Deklamasi Puisi Merdeka”, a poetry declamation competition that symbolises the patriotic spirit of FVM.
The participation of FVM in the “Semarak Merdeka” program this year is believed to have increase the visibility of FVM in UPM. The awards received are now set as the ‘catalyst’ in boosting the patriotic spirit among the FVM staff with the hopes that FVM will win bigger prizes in the same program, next year.
