SERDANG, 27 July – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), received an informal courtesy visit from Prof. Dr. Chatchote Thitaram of Chiang Mai University and Prof. Dr. Somporn Techangamsuwan of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand, on 22 July 2026. The visit coincided with their participation as invited speakers at the GAVIS 2026 Conference held in Putrajaya.
The courtesy visit aimed to strengthen academic ties between the institutions while exploring potential collaborations in veterinary education, research, and clinical services. An introductory meeting with the faculty management was also held to discuss strategic partnership opportunities that could be pursued in the future.
During the visit, the delegation was given a tour of the teaching and learning facilities at the FPV academic building before proceeding to the University Veterinary Hospital. They were briefed on the hospital's operations, treatment facilities, and clinical case management, all of which play a vital role in supporting veterinary student education and training.
The delegation also had the opportunity to visit several key hospital facilities, including the inpatient wards, operating theatres, diagnostic laboratories, and other clinical units. The visit provided valuable insight into the management practices of a teaching hospital and the approaches adopted in delivering veterinary services at Universiti Putra Malaysia.
Overall, the informal courtesy visit reflects FPV's commitment to strengthening international collaboration through the exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices. The relationship established is expected to create more opportunities for cooperation in academic activities, research, and professional development for the mutual benefit of both institutions.
