Independence Day Celebration 2024, FPV

Serdang, 15th August– Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM) entered “Kibar Jalur Gemilang” (wave the ‘Jalur Gemilang’ flag), an inter-cost centre competition in conjunction with the UPM Independence Day 2024 Program. To enter the competition, each cost centre including FVM, were expected to be exuberant in celebrating the Malaysian Independence month by waving the Malaysian flag, “Jalur Gemilang” using their creativity and imagination. All cost centre were also encouraged to make their own interpretation displaying their exuberance while waving the Jalur Gemilang.

The competition judges were firstly greeted with a group of FVM motorcyclist convoy as they each carried the Jalur Gemilang. Once arrived at the FVM foyer, the judges witnessed a special ‘silat’ performance by Mr Hanis Norazima, staff of the University Veterinary Hospital (UVH). followed by a ‘silat’ performance from the Organisation of Pancasila Silat Martial Art.
The FVM displayed their uniqueness in this competition by including the resident animals: a horse, goat, sheep, dog and cat. They were the centre of the attention as they wore the national attire that presents the four colours of the Jalur Gemilang flag. All the animals were looking sharp and adorable during the parade, and the audience took the opportunity to take selfies with them.
The participation of FVM in this competition had become a platform for the FVM members to work together, combining ideas while exhibiting their own creativity. A replica of the Malaysian Parliament building was created from this hard and collective work, which they used recycle materials and egg cages. The attire worn by the resident horse, NagaPutra, were creatively made by Mr Mohd Firdaus Nizamuddin. The whole FVM members also sang the “Jalur Gemilang” together to show their loving spirit for the nation.
The judging session took about half an hour. Of course, the aim of FVM entering this competition is to win the top prize. Nevertheless, the real prize was the united spirit of Malaysian Independence encouraged among the FVM members.
