SERDANG, 14 August – The University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), organised the “Bengkel AI Made Easy: NotebookLM, Gemini & Canva” on 7 August 2026 at the Computer Laboratory, FPV UPM. The workshop was delivered by Ms Nor Baizura Zamri, with Ts. Saiful Ramadzan Hairani also serving as a facilitator.
The workshop aimed to introduce faculty members to the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications such as NotebookLM, Google Gemini and Canva to support the execution of daily tasks. The programme also emphasised enhancing participants’ knowledge, skills, efficiency and productivity through the ethical and effective use of AI technology in their daily work.
According to the speaker, “The use of AI is not intended to replace the role of humans, but rather to serve as an assistant in simplifying tasks, accelerating work processes and producing quality outputs. Users also need to understand this technology well and use it ethically, responsibly and wisely to ensure that the resulting work remains accurate, relevant and beneficial.”
Participants were introduced to the use of Google Gemini to assist in preparing proposals and working papers, executive summaries, meeting minutes and report analysis. NotebookLM was also introduced as a tool for understanding and summarising documents, answering questions based on provided sources, and generating content such as slides and infographics in a more structured and systematic manner.
The organisation of this workshop reflects the commitment of UVH and FPV UPM to strengthening the digital competencies of faculty members in line with technological developments and the digital transformation agenda. Programmes of this nature are expected to encourage the ethical use of AI while helping faculty members carry out their daily responsibilities in a more systematic, efficient and professional manner.
