SERDANG, 26 May – The University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia, organised the “Computed Tomography of Ear Disease Seminar” on 25 May 2026 at the Bilik Jemaah, FPV, UPM. The seminar was held as a platform for continuous clinical knowledge sharing on the application of computed tomography (CT Scan) in the diagnosis of veterinary ear diseases.

The seminar focused on the growing use of veterinary imaging technology in enhancing diagnostic accuracy and treatment effectiveness, particularly for ear diseases in small animals. CT imaging is regarded as a valuable tool for detecting lesions, proliferative changes, and bone involvement in a more comprehensive and systematic manner.

The programme involved the participation of 50 attendees comprising academic officers, Veterinary Officers, and X-Ray Technologists. The seminar also received strategic support from Infinity Medical Sdn. Bhd. in strengthening competency development related to the use of the Sinovision AlphaCT 328Plus CT Scan at UVH.

The knowledge-sharing session was delivered by Dr. Ikhwan Saufi bin Ahamad Azahari, Teaching Fellow at the Department of Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery, FPV UPM. According to him, “The use of CT Scan enables a more accurate assessment of ear structures, thereby supporting more systematic and effective treatment and surgical planning.” He also emphasised that advancements in veterinary imaging technology now play an important role in enhancing modern diagnostic capabilities.

Through the organisation of this seminar, UVH remains committed to strengthening clinical competency development and expanding the use of advanced imaging technology in modern veterinary practice. Programmes such as this are expected to reinforce continuous clinical training, enhance participants’ understanding of current diagnostic technologies, and strengthen strategic collaboration between institutions and the veterinary industry.
