SERDANG, May 22 – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), via its Department of Clinical Veterinary Studies, and in collaboration with SEED Contact Lens (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. successfully organized the “Seminar on the Role of Bandage Contact Lenses in Veterinary Ophthalmology” at the FPV Auditorium.

The technical training initiative attracted 150 participants, including clinical lecturers, veterinary officers from the University Veterinary Hospital, and private veterinary practitioners.

The seminar aimed to enhance participants’ understanding of using bandage contact lenses to treat corneal ulcers in cats and dogs, while broadening their knowledge of appropriate ophthalmic medication selection and clinical management of ocular conditions.

Keynote speaker, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ito Norihiko from Tottori University, Japan, shared his expertise through three themed sessions, covering the basics of bandage lens application, considerations in selecting ophthalmic medications, and ophthalmic case management.

In addition to the lecture sessions, the program included interactive Q&A and the presentation of tokens of appreciation to the speaker and the participating industry partner.

This seminar reflects FPV UPM’s ongoing commitment to strengthening academia-industry collaboration, enhancing veterinary practitioners’ competencies in ophthalmology, and advancing the use of modern eye treatment technologies to improve the wellbeing of companion animals in Malaysia.
