Faculty of Veterinary Medicine currently offers postgraduate programme in the field of veterinary and animal sciences. Post-graduate research is the mainstay of Faculty research activities. Research in the Faculty focusses on the advancement in areas beyond the borders of veterinary and animal sciences current knowledge in disease diagnosis, medicine and animal production.
Postgraduate programmes in the Faculty that began in 1979 is managed by UPM Graduate Studies Committee, a subcommittee of the University Senate. This committee is responsible for student admission, appointment of supervisors, and thesis examination. The office of Deputy Dean for Postgraduate Studies and Research of the Faculty serves as the secretariat for this Committee.
The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine offers four (4) graduate programmes:

POSTGRADUATE COURSES
The post-graduate courses are numbered according to the 5000 or 6000 series.
SUPERVISORY COMMITTEE
A supervisory committee shall be appointed by the Faculty for each candidate. The committee comprising of experts in their respective fields shall be responsible for the coordination of the candidate’s programme of study and monitoring of their progress.

MASTER IN VETERINARY MEDICINE
The Master in Veterinary Medicine (MVM) programme is specially designed for graduates in Veterinary science. The specialisation of the programme is either in clinical veterinary or laboratory veterinary practice. The programme is a full-time intensive, of duration of either 12 or 24 month, and conducted with lectures, practicals, special topic assignments, seminars, and a research project.
A candidate must fulfil the residency requirement of not less than two (2) semesters duration and pass a minimum of 41 credits of courses.
