Research in small animal medicine focuses on companion animal health and well-being through better understanding of disease and therapy, understanding and promotion of benefits of human-animal bond and reduction of unwanted and problem pets through community education. Research in these areas focus on identification and understanding of aetiology, epidemiology and pathogenesis of diseases affecting companion animals, development of novel and specific diagnostic tests for detection disease causing agents, and monitoring and implementation of newer treatment options and protocols. Expertise of the research group, spans many disciplines including internal medicine, cardiology, reproduction, diagnostic imaging, zoonoses and epidemiology.
