SERDANG, 11 February – The University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organised the Seminar on Infectious Disease Control and Stress Management in Veterinary Practice as an initiative to enhance professional understanding and competency in veterinary practice. The seminar was held on 10 February 2026 at Lecture Hall Veterinar C, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine.

The seminar focused on two key aspects of veterinary facility operations, namely infectious disease control and animal stress management. Emphasis was placed on the importance of systematic biosecurity practices to reduce the risk of cross-infection, ensure the safety of staff and patients, and support animal welfare and the smooth implementation of clinical procedures.

A total of 72 participants attended the seminar, comprising both physical and online participants. They included veterinary officers, lecturers and support staff from FPV, as well as veterinary officers from other public universities who are directly involved in managing animal facilities at their respective institutions.

The programme featured sessions on infectious disease control, biofilm, disinfection, and understanding stress management in animals, particularly cats and dogs. The sharing sessions provided practical insights relevant to real-life situations in veterinary facilities, aligned with daily operational needs.

The seminar was conducted in collaboration with industry partner Hanavet Sdn. Bhd., which supported the programme through in-kind sponsorship. This collaboration strengthened ties between academia and industry in advancing veterinary practices based on current standards.

Through this seminar, UVH reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening its role as a teaching hospital and clinical referral centre by promoting safe, ethical and knowledge-based practices, while supporting the continuous improvement of veterinary services.
