SERDANG, 15 July – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organized the Hari Bersama Penternak Ladang Angkat PUTRA 2025 at the Bilik Jemaah, FPV. The event was held in collaboration with the Department of Farm and Exotic Animal Medicine and Surgery (JPPHLE), University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), and the Department of Clinical Veterinary Studies (JPKV).

The programme brought together livestock farmers, students, veterinary officers, and academic staff to strengthen strategic collaboration and expand knowledge sharing within the ruminant farming sector.

Organised as part of the Veterinary Clinical Practice II (VPK4944) course, the event also received support from the SULAM@UPM fund for Semester 2, Session 2024/2025.

A total of 85 participants took part in the event, comprising 36 Ladang Angkat PUTRA farmers, 18 Year 5 Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students, and 31 academic and support staff from FPV.

The morning session featured two keynote presentations. Assoc. Prof. Dr Siti Zubaidah Ramanoon delivered a talk entitled “Dari Kaki ke Prestasi: Tangani Ketempangan sebelum Terlambat”, followed by Prof. Dr Abdul Aziz Saharee with his presentation on “Program Kesihatan Gerompok dan Pendekatan myGAP”.

In the afternoon, a focus group discussion was held with the farmers to gather feedback based on the farm analyses conducted by the students.

The closing session included a token of the appreciation ceremony, recognising the contributions and commitment of the speakers and participants throughout the programme.

This initiative reflects UPM’s ongoing commitment to strengthening bilateral relations between academia and the farming community. It also supports the development of the national livestock industry and contributes to food security through a sustainable and high-impact knowledge transfer approach.
