UPM has commemorated (MoU) between BARC (Bangladesh)

SERDANG, Oct 11 – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine together with Faculty of Agriculture, UPM has commemorated memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) and UPM. This signing ceremony had been conducted via the Zoom platform and hosted by Dr Mohd Akmal Mohd Noor from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM.

This MoU agreement event had been signed by YBhg. Prof Dr Mohd Roslan Sulaiman, Vice-Chancellor UPM and the Honourable Dr Shaikh Mohammad Bokthiar, Executive Chairman, BARC, and witnessed by Dean Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM, Ybhg. Prof Dr Abdul Rahman Omar and Member Director, Planning and Evaluation Division, BARC. Assoc. Prof Dr Nor Azura Adam as the Dean Faculty of Agriculture and Assoc. Prof Dr Norida Mazlan, Head Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture UPM, were invited as the distinguished guests for this event.

The election of BARC in this MoU is aligned with their purpose in which acting as a centre for Bangladesh agriculture system that is responsible in planning and integration of resources associated with the agriculture activities.

This bilateral collaboration is emphasized in several areas including, bioinformatics in crops, livestock and fisheries; biotechnology; food safety; animal health and zoonotic diseases; marine culture; agricultural mechanization; animal production, feed and fodder research; post-harvest management and waste management; and capacity development.

At this moment, a total of 29 BARC’s scientists are pursuing their doctorate in UPM and they are expected to complete their research in one to two semester. These PhD candidates have been published an impeccable research work and published in high impact journals.

This memorandum of understanding is anticipated to boost the agricultural industry in Bangladesh, in general; through UPM’s expertise and technologies in the agricultural research.

This effort is lined with UPM’s motto, With Knowledge, We Serve and and UPM vision to become a university of international repute; UPM will continue to share and contribute their expertise and experience in the research and development to the local and also international agencies.
