UPM and My Vet Care Sign MoA to Advance Animal Disease Research

SERDANG, 16 July – The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with My Vet Care Sdn. Bhd., the main distributor of Bionote diagnostic products, in a joint effort to enhance animal disease research and strengthen clinical education.

The signing ceremony marked an agreement between both parties to collaborate on the development of test kits and diagnostic analyzers for research, education, and teaching purposes in the field of veterinary medicine. This initiative is expected to contribute to the advancement of local diagnostic technology and expand its applications in the animal health industry.

According to Dr. Khor Kuan Hua, Head of the Department of Companion Animal Medicine and Surgery at FPV UPM, this partnership facilitates faster technology transfer from industry to academia while enabling the implementation of high-quality research in veterinary diagnostics.

This strategic collaboration also provides opportunities for third to fifth-year students in the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programme to gain hands-on experience using diagnostic equipment during their studies. This approach promotes experiential learning and produces graduates who are better prepared to meet real-world demands in the veterinary industry.

Meanwhile, Dr. Ng Shing Wei, a representative from My Vet Care Sdn. Bhd., expressed the company’s commitment to supporting the research and development (R&D) agenda of higher education institutions by providing diagnostic tools that meet scientific and clinical standards.

The MoA will remain in effect for five years from the date of signing and is expected to pave the way for broader collaboration in innovation, research, and industrial training in the future.
