KUALA TERENGGANU, July 30 – The Sultan of Terengganu, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin, graciously witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and Royal Terengganu Endurance Stable (RTES) for professional veterinary services, veterinary student training, and research related to equines.

UPM was represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Datuk Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, and RTES was represented by its General Manager, Dr. Ahmad Naqib Abu Bakar. Datuk Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan stated that this collaboration benefits UPM’s veterinary students by providing them opportunities for clinical training and research, aligning with the university's goal of producing highly skilled graduates to meet industry needs.
“This collaboration will also produce veterinary graduates with expertise in animal management and clinical practice, especially in the growing field of equine medicine in the country,” he said.
The Dean of FPV, UPM, Prof. Dr. Goh Yong Meng, mentioned that the close cooperation between UPM and RTES since 2007 has allowed veterinary staff to share expertise and plan and develop training programs.
“This proves that FPV's expertise is excellent and gives RTES confidence to continue this collaboration and enhance various activities and research related to horses,” he said.
Also present were the Deputy Dean of the Universiti Veterinary Hospital (UVH), FPV, Prof. Madya Dr. Noraniza Mohd Adzahan, the Dean of the School of Veterinary Medicine at Management and Science University (MSU), Prof. Datuk Dr. Bashir Ahmad Fateh Mohamed, and the Honorary Treasurer of RTES, Dato’ Koh Tat Kim.
Meanwhile, FPV, UPM, which consists of six departments—the Department of Veterinary Preclinical Sciences, the Department of Veterinary Pathology & Microbiology, the Department of Veterinary Clinical Studies, the Department of Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory, the Department of Companion Animal Medicine & Surgery, and the Department of Farm & Exotic Animal Medicine & Surgery—under the UVH, provides comprehensive education in the field of Veterinary Medicine to produce competent veterinarians.
