"The Neutering Of 680 Cats And Dogs Has Been Successfully Carried Out In The Potong Royongtm 4.0 Program"

AMPANG JAYA, August 3, 2024 – The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Selangor, together with the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia and the Malaysian Veterinary Medical Association (MAVMA), successfully implemented Potong RoyongTM 4.0 program from July 28, 2024, to August 3, 2024. The program ran from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and involved certified veterinary volunteers and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) students from UPM.

Professor Dr. Goh Yong Meng, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM, stated that the program is an initiative to raise public awareness about the importance of spaying and neutering cats and dogs, as well as pet care management. The Prokasih Club, managed by UPM’s DVM students, also participated in Potong RoyongTM 4.0 by providing information on responsible pet ownership.

Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, graciously attended the Potong RoyongTM 4.0 program at SPCA Ampang on July 31, 2024, and officiated the event. She also visited education booths, e.g. cat health check-ups, education on pet care, the importance of spaying, and vaccination for cats and dogs.

While there was a fee for spaying procedures, subsidies were provided under the ‘Stray Free Selangor’ funding, under the patronage of Her Royal Highness Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, with support and sponsorship from various agencies and companies. Through this program, a total of 680 animals (508 cats and 172

dogs) were successfully neutered. At the same time, 64 pets, consisting 38 cats and 26 dogs, were vaccinated by veterinary doctors from UPM.
