The veterinary profession plays a pivotal role in the health and welfare of livestock, companion animals and wildlife.
In addition, it has a vital role in safeguarding human health by ensuring food safety and security, optimizing livestock production, advancing biomedical and comparative medical research, monitoring zoonotic diseases, improving environmental and ecosystem health, and addressing 21st century public health challenges.
The seminar on Advances in Veterinary Diseases and Diagnostics hosted by the Veterinary Laboratory Services Unit (VLSU), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM, will focus on the latest developments in the veterinary industry in the country, with emphasis on specific animal diseases, pathogens, and the techniques employed for accurate diagnostics.
It is designed to provide a rapid update and an opportunity for high-level engagement in current scientific and technological advances in areas of zoonotic diseases, histopathology, cancer cytology, viral and fungal diseases of animals, antimicrobial resistance, aquatic medicine, laboratory animal management, and ruminant diseases.
There will be opportunity for consultation with the VLSU experts for an appreciation of the latest diagnostic techniques and services offered by VLSU for the advancement of the veterinary industry.
Participants will also have the opportunity for guided tours to the diagnostic laboratories to appreciate the rapid expansion in the field of veterinary laboratory diagnostics, and how these specific services could benefit and enhance niche areas of veterinary practice and veterinary-related commerce in the country.
