SERDANG, 19 May – The University Veterinary Hospital (UVH), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FPV), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organised the “Kursus Asas Endurance 2026” as a platform for knowledge sharing and training related to endurance riding to strengthen the development of Malaysia’s equestrian sports industry. The programme received major sponsorship from Lembaga Totalisator Malaysia (LTM) in support of the development of endurance sports and the national equine industry.

The course was organised to enhance participants’ understanding of the comprehensive management of endurance sports, covering preparations before, during, and after competitions, including aspects of training, nutrition, care, and horse welfare. In addition, the course also emphasised diseases, injuries, prevention, and treatment in endurance sports to ensure that horses maintain optimum health and performance levels.

Among the main topics covered were an introduction to endurance riding, fundamental principles in training high-performance endurance horses, endurance rules and regulations, competition preparation, endurance-related diseases, as well as nutrition and feeding management for endurance horses. The programme involved 70 participants consisting of industry players, horse owners, riders, and individuals interested in endurance sports.

The two-day course, held at Zenith Hotel Putrajaya, featured several experienced speakers from UPM, namely Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noraniza Mohd Adzahan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nurul Hayah Khairuddin, and Dr. Noorashimah Roslim, as well as Tuan Haji Mohamad Din Mat, President of the Equestrian Association of Malaysia (EAM).

The programme served as a platform to strengthen collaboration networks among industry players, horse owners, riders, and endurance sports enthusiasts in supporting the continuous development of the sport in Malaysia. The organisation of this course further reinforced the role of UVH and FPV as reference centres in the fields of veterinary medicine and equestrian sports in the country.
