12 November 2022 – Diagnostic and Imaging Veterinary Unit from Universiti Veterinary Hospital (UVH), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), consisted of a lecturer, Dr. Azlan Che’ Amat, 2 radiographers, 2 veterinary assistants, and 4 students were dispatched to Kuala Gandah, Pahang to do an X-ray on a baby elephant that has injured both of its back legs.
The baby elephant called Siput which believed to be less than 1 year old, was found separated from its mother. Both of Siput’s back legs were X-rayed, and each leg was X-rayed from 3 views. The X-ray showed that both of its back legs were fractured and it did not suffer from any serious injury. The X-ray took almost 2 hours to finish. The veterinary team there was satisfied with the X-ray results and further treatment would be handled by them.
It was a great pleasure for UVH, UPM to be a help and wish to assist them again in the future.
