JOINT ACADEMIC PROGRAMME, UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA, SURABAYA

Associate Professor Dr Nurhusien Yimer Degu and Associate Professor Dr Arifah Abdul Kadir with five postgraduate students from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM attended the International Joint Class between Master Programme Reproductive Biology, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) and Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, UPM in Surabaya, Indonesia from the 5^th to the 8^th of September 2023. The group was welcomed by Prof. Dr. Mirni Lamid, drh, Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FVM), UNAIR.

The official visit was aimed for UPM to participate in the academic and research activities organized by UNAIR. During the three days visit, the members from both faculties shared their research discovery and findings in relation to various aspects of veterinary science to the postgraduate students and staff members of the FVM, UNAIR. Besides that, the visit also included trips to the Institute of Tropical Disease, Veterinary Reproduction Laboratory, Center of Research Analysis Veterinary and Applied of Indonesian Veterinary Pharmacy and Teaching Farm of UNAIR which focuses on the cryopreservation of bull semen.

The meeting and discussion provided an excellent platform for potential collaborations between academicians, researchers and postgraduate students from both universities. Moreover, the visit to the farm and laboratories also provided different perspectives in research and methodology which boosted the group’s mastery in research knowledge and skill.

As a result of this visit, members of the two faculties are expected to collaborate to produce high impact research in the coming years.

Participants from the UPM  have expressed their appreciation and thanks for organizing the event headed by Prof Dr Erma Salfitri and supervised by Prof Dr Tita Damayanti Lestari of the Division for Veterinary Reproduction.
